Professor Chung was educated in Medicine of Seoul National University, one of the best universities in Korea, and acquired competent medical skills while he was attending as exchange professor at Tissue Engineering Lab of Harvard Medical School, Baylor College of medicine in USA and few other institutions. He carried out the first hybrid surgery using robotics for minimally invasive surgery in major arterial diseases including the aortic arch aneurysm in Korea. He has been continuously playing a foremost role in promoting the hybrid surgery.

This skillful doctor performs between 250 and 300 heart surgeries every year, including coronary bypass, valve surgery, aorta surgery, and aorta hybrid surgery. Since 1994, when his first heart surgery was performed, about 5,000 more open heart surgeries were done by him. Almost all his coronary bypass surgeries (open heart surgeries) are implemented without the help of an artificial heart-lung machine to decrease the risk of fatal

complications.

Professor Chung is evaluated as a doctor who always strives to make the patient feel as comfortable as possible.
